I’m currently Full Professor of Psychology (Thinking and Language), at the Psychology Departament of the University of the Balearic Islands. My background is in Philosophy (PhD in 1990, “After the Computational Mind”), and my interests have centered on issues at the “no man’s land” of the frontiers between philosophy of mind, psychology and cognitive science: representation and meaning, expression and intersubjectivity, intentional explanation and rationality, taking an evolutionary perspective into account. I received a Fulbright posdoc grant in 1990-91, to work at Rutgers University with Jerry Fodor, and spent a sabbatical in 2009 at The School of Psychology, University of St. Andrews. I’m a researcher of the Human Evolution and Cognition research group at UIB (an associated unit to IFISC).

Som llicenciat en Filosofia i Ciències de l’Educació (1986) i doctor en Filosofia (1990) amb una tesi sobre La teoría computacional de la mente. El curs 1990-91 vaig ser becari doctoral Fulbraight, a la Rutgers University, amb direcció del professor Jerry Fodor. El 2009 va gaudir d’una estada sabàtica a la Universitat de St. Andrews.
Som professor de Lògica i Filosofia de la Ciència i de Psicologia Bàsica. He treballat a les Universitats de Salamanca i La Laguna, a més de la UIB.
M’interessen especialment les qüestions en la frontera entre psicologia i filosofia, i som partidari de la interdisciplinarietat. Els temes en que he treballat són: el significat i la representació mental; l’arquitectura cognitiva i l’explicació de la cognició; i l’evolució del llenguatge i la cognició humana.
